Overall Medal Tally of 26th SEA Games 2011

As the SEA Games 2011 come to an end, the winner is totally Indonesia. As the host of the event, they hold 182 gold medals, 151 silver medals and 143 bronze medals with a total of 476 medals. No one has the chance to knock Indonesia from the lead. Thailand is currently in second place, bringing 329 total medals and holding a narrow margin over Vietnam with 288 total medals. East Timor managed to bring home a single gold and silver medal. The only country that return home without the presence of gold medal is Brunei. I find it interesting to see which countries dominate which events throughout the 10-day event. Singapore blew everyone away with their 17 golds in swimming, while Myanmar dominated boat racing.

MNHS celebrate the National Reading Month

“Every man who knows how to read has it in his power to magnify himself, to multiply the ways in which he exists, to make his life full, significant and interesting”

Reading is typically an individual activity that we should develop. The Department of Education (DepEd) has declared November 2011 as National Reading Month as part of the agency's move to promote its Every Child A Reader Program and join the nation which will culminate with the "Araw ng Pagbasa" on November 25. Today was the most outstanding day as we celebrate the National Reading Month with a launching program prepared by the English Club Officers and Staff. The program fired by an inspirational welcome address from the English Club President, Aika T. Kuaya. Ms. Marchan Ampan gave the program introduction including the trivias and contests which was participated by the students in each year level. The SIC, Mrs. Beverly Solijon gave her inspiring and convincing message to improve reading skills to promote results better in exams. Education Secretary Armin Luistro said his statement.

"We are coming up with more creative ways of developing the love for reading among our young because this is an important portal to the world of learning."

It is instructive to think of the importance of reading by listing the consequences of being a poor reader. Although one can take to reading at any age, I have seen that it is much easier to begin at a young age and develop a love and passion for reading rather than forcing oneself to indulge in this at a later age in life. Good readers can understand the individual sentences and the organizational structure of a piece of writing. They can comprehend ideas, follow arguments, and detect implications. They know most of the words in the text already, but they can also determine the meaning of many of the unfamiliar words from the context failing this, they can use their dictionary effectively to do so. In summary, good readers can extract from the writing what is important for the particular task they are employed in. And they can do it quickly!

Sarangans to celebrate Munato Festival

Wines are flooding while the crowd is yelling and shouting as for excitement. Sarangani to celebrate their incoming 9th Munato Festival this November 24-27 together wit the celebration of the 19th Anniversary. There will be competitions and pageants participated by the 7 Municipalities of Sarangani.

"WELCOME TO MUNATO FESTIVAL 2011 AND 19TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY OF SARANGANI. NOV. 24-27 AT THE PROVINCIAL CAPITOL IN ALABEL. MunaTo was derived from the native vernacular meaning “unang tao” or “first people”, the early inhabitants of Sarangani who passed on a rich cultural heritage. It also refers to the makers of the 2000-year old anthropomorphic burial jars discovered in Maitum that are now in the National Museum. Is Tea Acidic?

Tea has a pH of 4.9 and the major anions detected were oxalate and citrate. Any substance with a pH of less than 7 is considered acidic. The lower the number, the more acidic the substance. However, the article mentions that it is relatively low compared to alternatives such as cola (pH 2.5, even stronger than vinegar, which has a pH of 2.9), orange juice (3.5), or tomato juice (4.0). It is therefore recommended as an alternative beverage for individuals who want to minimize dental erosion due to acidity. It contains tannins which give it the astringent feel, including compounds like Gallic acid. So, now we can conclude that Tea totally can cause disease.

I Like this Korean Boy Band!

A'ST1 is a 6 male-group band composed by Korean, Japanese and Chinese Members. Park Jun Jin (22), Byun Jang Moon (21),  Sung In Kyu (21) and Lin Ham Byul (20). The only Japanese member is Tomo (22) and the only Chinese member too is Haiming (22). There single's title track is called "1234Back" which was composed by Han Song Wun, the one who made Park Ji Hun's "The Day I Miss You". They also sang "Yearning of the Heart" from the popular "Boys over Flower" drama  because they were under the same entertainment as Kim Hyunjoong . Also Haiming had a cameo role in BOF acting as a gay friend of Yoon Jinhoo. Their comeback performance was on April 17th. Their song was called "Dynamite". It's magnificently catchy. :)

Learning is important. It guides us not to be ignorant on unusual things but lessons to learn. I was thinking of doing such things that is very challenging to me. Writing? Yes, I discovered how to write words in Thai letters. In my first time of searching, I was thinking that writing words in Thai letters are just easy and simple but an hour later, my mind is confused about the rules on writing there letters and it was like painting... Ahem , I don't have any idea about there rules. They have 44 consonants with 21 distinct consonants and it was divided into Three parts: Low, Mid, High; and they have 21 vowels... Whoosh, it is very difficult for a newbie learner. Here are some words that can help me in my daily life but not totally. But sooner or later, I will learn more.

Work on Midterm Evaluation

Write. Solve. Watch. That's my usual work during our Week of Midterm Evaluation. I'm so very bored on facing books and papers. One night, I was spending the whole day writing my answer on the given workbook and also spend time on analyzing those solutions made by me to be prepared for the given recitation. We were given also a film to watch and make our reaction about it. But sometimes, I'm spending my time with surfing the Internet for my Blogger account and spend on texting my Co-AJSters members. My week is not such a splendid day when I face the sun when it rises but it such an arduous day can make me depressed. But also it can make trained myself doing my time managing. And after those days, go back to school again and face all the trials destined to me, Harsh...XDDD. Happy Halloween, I think I'm gonna have my creepy experiences this year...I will just wait. LOL...!

Mario Maurer and Erich Gonzales to star in a movie "Suddenly It's Magic"

Thai actor Mario Maurer inked a one-movie contract with Star Cinema shortly after his arrival on Wednesday, and it has also been confirmed that his leading lady for said flick will indeed be Erich Gonzales.

Recall that a rumor alleging their purported pairing first circulated among various social networking sites in late July this year. In reaction to this, Gonzales said during a press conference last July, “Sa ngayon po ay hindi pa napag-uusapan, pero happy ako na matuloy ‘yan, ‘yung ma-consider lang sobrang happy ako, masaya po ako at salamat po sa kanila [Fans], tignan po natin kung matutuloy po.”

For his part, Maurer told ABS-CBN in an interview after his contract signing, “I have never met her [Erich] but I’m looking forward to meeting her.”

The actor also shared that the movie, titled “Suddenly It’s Magic,” will mostly be filmed in Thailand and “a part of it will be shot in the Philippines.” No other details have been reported yet as of this writing.

Maurer first made waves in the Philippines after his 2010 movie “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” was screened on local TV a few months back. Prior to this, his performance in his less popular – at least in the Philippines – debut film “Love of Siam” (2007) earned him a Best Actor nod in the Cinemanila International Film Festival 2008.

Meanwhile, Maurer said in a separate report by PEP published on Oct.26 that he’s “very surprised” when he saw the huge amount of Filipino fans that came out to meet him.

“I didn’t think I have this amount of fans in the Philippines,” he admitted.
